Explanation of Waiver Codes

Medicaid 1915(c) Home and Community-Based Waivers: Program Data 1992-1999

Explanation of Waiver Codes:
The waiver numbers are assigned by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid just to have a distinct tracking system for all the waivers across the country. The numbers don\'t mean much except that if there is an \"R\" as in R1, that means the waiver has been Renewed. The most important part are the letters that are shown in a separate column on the table. They identify which population is served by the waiver. Here\'s what they mean:

PD = persons with physical disabilities
MR/DD = persons with mental retardation or developmental disabilities
A/D = aged persons or younger persons with disabilities
AIDS/ARC = persons with AIDS or AIDS related conditions
TechnDep = persons with technology dependencies
TBI = persons with Traumatic Brain Injury
MI = persons with mental illness (a rarely used waiver)
All = a single waiver that serves all persons with disabilities
